Day 8 – Friday

Another good soak in the shower with the shower head onto the recipient and I think I have around 85-90% of the scabs and crusts off the scalp. Washing the donor is fine now just making sure I wash along the lines of the staples all seems very clean and I can feel each of the staples so no crusts or dried blood on here to worry about getting off. The test patch of smp seemed to be holding in my scar so we will give it a shot. I also saw a patient come in to get a test patch SMP done into his scar from another clinic, I was impressed and I hope it holds for the patient and he can get the whole scar done as it broke up the scar line very nicely.

Day 9- Saturday

Didn’t take any photos today but got all the crusts off 100% now and the recipient is healing nicely. What needs to be taken into account with repair patients is that there is old scar tissue in my recipient area from the 3 surgeries I had in the 90’s so it will not look as clean as it would with a virgin patient. Went to Whistler with Joe and was another beautiful day, on that note I have not seen a drop of rain since I have been here in 12 days. Most days have been sunshine and around 12-15 degrees although in Vancouver it has been a little foggy for the last couple of days. Thankfully it was lovely and sunny in Whistler.

Day 10- Sunday

Washed hair as normal today all the scabs and crusts are gone so no need for a long soak. Recipient is healing and fading. Scar line still a little tender to touch and numb above the scar line, I get the odd twinge in the donor scar but no pain. So today Irina kindly opened the clinic to perform SMP on my crown and scars. We got going around 10am and finished at 4pm so 6 hours pretty much straight with a couple of stops of drinks and toilet and to grab a bit to eat. A big area was covered from directly where the latest grafts were placed so around mid-scalp right through to my crown and lower part of. The pain was moderate in most places like a pinching it did however get a little more painful at the sides. I wasn’t able to see the final result but in looking at myself front on in the mirror the area looks fuller. Some of my scalp is still numb so it benefited me to not feel the pinches. My lowest scar was done which is around the neck area and this was much more painful like a burning sensation at times this is because the skin is thinner here and I should never have had a strip taken from this area, as there was no chance of a revision to camouflage this area is my only option.Due to the time constraint we are going to have another go in a couple of days time.
