Day 15 Of My Post Op Hair Transplant Recovery Diary

Staples came out today so I had a long soak in the bath beforehand and washed my hair to remove as much of the crusting and scabbing from the staples and scar most had already gone by now but wanted to make it as painless as possible. My girlfriend was a little worried about taking the staples out for me and had trouble with the first one but I think it was the angle she was approaching it. It is best to start on the right hand side and work your way along so you can slide the tool under the staple. Anyway once she got going it was fine most came out without any pain whatsoever but a were painful. It was all over within around 20-25 minutes and whilst some did bleed a bit applying some pressure on them made the bleeding stop. I did feel have some throbbing pain for around an hour after the staples were removed.
Sleeping that night was so much more comfortable, don’t get me wrong the scar is still sore and needs to heal and above the scar is numb so still feels odd when you lay your head on a pillow but it felt good in comparison.
We took some photos and I have noticed I have a small amount of shock loss around the scar on both sides, this was to be expected for me, the closure was tight but remember this was my fifth strip surgery. Looking back I could have achieved what I have done in 2 sessions with Dr Hasson what I ended up achieving in 5 altogether.

Day 16

I washed my hair today and noticed quite a bit of shedding on both the newly transplanted hairs and some donor hairs also came out. I had a long soak to remove as much of the crusting and scabs around the scar now that the staples were out. I took a photo of all the hairs that had shed and were at the bottom of the bath but my girlfriend cleaned the bath before I came back with the camera. Some of the recipient hairs had a black bulb and some had no bulbs whilst others were bent to a 90 degree angle. The donor hairs were obviously different as being much longer and coarse, these hairs will come back as they are very healthy and strong.

Day 18

Shedding continues as expected, noticing the shock loss around the donor is also continuing. I Took some more photos today and I can notice a little difference in the colour of the recipient area has faded. I won’t be updating now every day as there is very little to report.

Day 25

My hair is getting longer and covering the scar much better now still a couple of areas where the shock has affected and it looks a slightly thinner. The recipient area to my eyes has totally recovered now, looking at the photos I took two days ago it is difficult to see any difference. My scalp doesn’t seem as tight although in my situation it is tighter than normal due to the number of strips I have had. I have been getting tingling sensations all over my head today which is a sign of the nerves regenerating themselves. The back of my head above the scar line remains numb and I expect this to be the case for a long while yet, elsewhere things are pretty normal. There is a little pain when I press the scar in one place the other areas of the scar seem fine to touch.
